LED Plaques and Ornaments: Gifts That Say Something

Eleven lit acrylic pieces, $24.00 to $64.00, all made to order in the US and all in stock. Nine are LED plaques on a wooden base; two are tree ornaments. What makes them worth a gift guide of their own is not the format — it is what is written on them. Prices checked live on 23 October 2026.

The sentiment-gift category runs almost entirely on rhyming verse. Soft fonts, florals, a poem about footprints. These are the opposite of that: four or five lines in plain capitals, white and gold on clear acrylic, no script and no snowflakes. If you have ever wanted to give someone a meaningful object without the greeting-card register, this is the shelf.

How they work

The design is printed on clear acrylic and sits in a wooden base that lights it from below, so the lettering glows and the panel itself stays transparent. Every plaque comes in two versions at the same price:

  • LED Corded Base — plugs in, brighter, better for a desk or a shelf near an outlet.
  • Battery Powered LED Base — goes anywhere, including a bedside table or a mantelpiece with no socket near it.

Same price either way, so pick on where it will stand rather than on cost. If you genuinely cannot guess, choose battery.

These are produced after you order: 3 to 5 business days to print and assemble, then shipping. For US delivery by Christmas, order by Monday, December 7. International deadlines are earlier — Tuesday, December 1 for Canada, Friday, November 27 for the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and Tuesday, November 17 for everywhere else. They arrive gift-boxed.

The Christmas ones

Piece Price What it says
Daughter Christmas LED Plaque — Brave Looks Good $51.20 My daughter. Brave looks good. Carry your courage everywhere. Love, Dad.
Mom Christmas LED Plaque — My First Fire $51.20 For the mother who lit it first.
Personalized Daughter Christmas LED Plaque — Your Photo $64.00 My daughter. Raised loud. Never shrink your light. Love, Mom — around a photo you upload.

The Brave Looks Good plaque is signed Love, Dad and the photo one Love, Mom, which is worth knowing before you buy — they are written from a specific person, not generically.

The photo version is the one to look at properly. You upload a picture of the two of you and it is built into the design rather than dropped into a frame-shaped hole. At $64.00 it is the most expensive piece on this page and the only one that cannot be replicated by anyone else, which is usually what people actually want from a Christmas present.

The two ornaments, $24.00 each

At $24.00 these are the entry point to the range and the easiest thing on this page to buy for someone whose taste you are not sure about. An ornament is a low-stakes object: it goes on the tree, it gets a laugh, it comes out again next year.

The year-round ones, which are the better gift

These are not Christmas pieces and we do not take them down in January. If the person you are buying for would rather have something that stays on the shelf in March, buy from this list instead.

Piece Price Who it is for
Best Friend — Well Behaved Was Never The Plan $51.20 A best friend. Reads: rulebreaker, by design, your accomplice.
Daughter — Quiet Never Changed A Thing $51.20 A daughter who is not the quiet one.
Daughter — I Didn't Raise You To Be Quiet $51.20 The same idea from the parent's side.
Mom — I Get It From My Mother $51.20 A mother, from a daughter who turned out like her.
Bonus Daughter — Chosen, Not Obligated $51.20 A stepdaughter. The whole point is in the title.
Apology — I'd Rather Be Close Than Right $51.20 Somebody you need to make it up to.

Two of these deserve singling out

Chosen, Not Obligated

Blended-family gifts are badly served. Most stepdaughter products either pretend the step part is not there or make a whole speech about it. This one says the useful thing in three words and stops. If you are a stepparent who has spent a while looking for something that is not awkward, this is it.

I'd Rather Be Close Than Right

An apology gift, which almost nobody makes. It is the hardest register to get right — sorry without groveling, warm without being saccharine — and it is the piece on this page we are proudest of. Worth knowing it exists for a time of year when families are in the same room more than usual.

Which one should you buy?

  • Most likely to land: the photo plaque at $64.00. A picture of the two of you is hard to beat.
  • Best value: any of the $51.20 plaques. Same object, same lit base, no personalization step to get wrong.
  • Safest small gift: an ornament at $24.00.
  • Best if she is not sentimental: Well Behaved Was Never The Plan. It is a joke first and a nice thing second, which suits some people far better.

Five of these eleven pieces sit in our twenty best-selling products, which genuinely surprised us for a format the store only started carrying this year.

Questions about the plaques and ornaments

Is the light bright enough to see in daylight?

It reads as lit in a normally lit room and looks its best in the evening. The corded base is the brighter of the two.

Can I change the wording?

No. The text is part of the printed design on all of these. The only piece that takes something from you is the photo plaque, which takes an image rather than text.

What photo works best on the personalized one?

A clear, well-lit picture with both faces close to the camera. Dark or busy backgrounds lose detail once the design is printed on clear acrylic, so a plain background beats a scenic one.

Are they returnable?

They are made to order, so only if something is wrong with the piece. Check our refund policy for the detail, and check the wording on the product page before you buy, since it cannot be changed afterwards.

Do batteries come with it?

The battery base takes standard batteries that are not included. The corded base needs no extras.

How big are they?

Desk and shelf scale rather than wall art — the exact dimensions are on each product page.

Will it arrive in time for Christmas?

If you order by Monday, December 7 for the US. These need 3 to 5 business days to make before they ship, so they have an earlier deadline than our in-stock jewelry.
